We offer a number of standard search packages, which include species, habitat and sites data. Prices apply only to commercial data requests. Not all packages may be available for all enquiry types.

• Package ST1 – from £195 + VAT: Standard Data Search in 1km buffer – This package provides a full species search (including protected/priority/INNS) within a 1km buffer of the search point or polygon, as well non-statutory and statutory site data.

• Package ST2 – from £265 + VAT: Standard Data Search in 2km buffer – This package provides a full species search (including protected/priority/INNS) within a 2km buffer of the search point or polygon, as well as non-statutory and statutory site data.

• Package NP1 – from £300 + VAT: Neighbourhood Plan Package – This package provides summary data to support Neighbourhood Plan development, including key species (protected/priority/INNS), as well as non-statutory and statutory site information.

For commercial enquiries, when you submit your data search requirements to us through My LERC, a price will be calculated automatically for some of our predefined packages. As soon as you have accepted the quote and made your payment, we will begin processing the search. We aim to provide all Ecological Data Search reports within ten working days.

Custom Searches
We also offer a Custom Search for specialist enquiries which do not fall within our standard packages. Although you can specify a Custom Search, they usually take time to agree and are no cheaper than our Standard Data Search Packages, so we will generally recommend a Standard Data Search Package. The Standard Data Search packages are comprehensive and their format allows you to filter for just what you need, and you will receive an automatic quote.

DLRC does not usually charge for Ecological Data Searches for bona fide naturalists, conservation partners, academics or landowners and managers who have allowed data pertaining to their land to be used by the Centre. See DLRC Charging Policy for details and exceptions.

Non-commercial Ecological Data Searches can be requested by selecting one of the package types below, or submitting a custom search enquiry. Please provide the reasons you believe this search should not be chargeable in your request.

• Package GP1 – No Charge: General Public Enquiry – This package provides summary data of species recorded at a site or in a local area (restricted to a 500m point buffer). It is for members of the public for personal interest.

• Package PRN – No Charge: Partner/Research/Naturalist Data Search in 2km buffer – This package provides a full species search (including protected/priority/INNS) within a 2km buffer of the search point or polygon, as well as non-statutory and statutory site data.

Please note that any search by or on behalf of a developer or landowner seeking to develop land will normally incur a charge and should be submitted using the Commercial Data Searches request type.

A standard search includes:

● Map showing boundaries of International nature conservation sites (SAC, SPA, Ramsar)
● Map showing boundaries of National nature conservation sites (SSSI, NNR, National Parks, AONB)
● Map showing boundaries of Local nature conservation sites (LNR, Local Wildlife Sites, Local Geological Sites)
● Map of Ancient Woodland Sites
● Summary document of relevant sites, including site name, grid reference (and site code, status where relevant) and details of habitat locations
● PDF report and Excel spreadsheet of species records, including species name, survey name, location, grid reference, date and record type, as well as designated site information

Specific locations of confidential or sensitive records may be omitted from the search results.

You can request data at any time, but we will usually only deal with your request between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

● Standard Ecological Data Search Packages will usually be returned within ten working days.
● Custom Ecological Data Search Requests will usually be responded to within ten working days. This may be longer depending on our workload and the complexity of the request. Once your requirements are agreed, the price quoted and the fee paid, we will return the Ecological Data Search results within ten working days.

DLRC is able to offer cross-boundary Ecological Data Searches with NEYEDC and West Yorkshire Ecology Service for standard 1km and 2km point and radius searches. These provide a cost effective service, where you will only be charged by the LERC that covers the majority of the search area, however you will need to contact each LERC for their data.

For non-standard or custom searches (i.e. those that are larger than a 2km point and radius search or equivalent area), Ecological Data Searches will still need to be made to each Local Environmental Records Centre separately.

For Commercial Ecological Data Searches you will receive an automatic quotation for the data you have requested. On acceptance of the quotation you will receive an email confirming the details of your request (including the quotation amount and LRC Quotation Reference) and providing a link to our Online Payment System. Once payment has been made, we will process and send your data.
