Christmas operating: Data requests submitted after 5pm on 23/12/22 will not be processed until 02/01/23Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Environmental Records Centre (BMERC) collects, collates and manages environmental information and provides it to others to inform responsible decision-making in planning, development and wildlife conservation.BMERC gathers data from a network of volunteer recorders and professional surveyors and consultants in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.BMERC is a not-for-profit organisation, hosted by Buckinghamshire Council. Our funding partners include Milton Keynes Council and the Environment Agency. We also work closely with the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT).We work within a wider Environment Team, along with the Buckinghamshire County Archaeological Service which manages the Historic Environment Record (HER) and county related archaeology matters.BMERC is a member of the Association of Local Environmental Records Centres (ALERC).What do we do?We provide environmental information to commercial and non-commercial clients via data searches. Our clients include ecological consultants, utility companies, parish councils, local people, conservation bodies, land-owners, students and many others. Please see the Data Request page for more information.We provide our funding partners with regularly updated species and sites information, and undertake surveys of local wildlife sites.What data do we have?We hold over 3.25 million wildlife records of flora and fauna in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes plus information about local sites such as Local Wildlife Sites and Local Geological Sites, Milton Keynes Wildlife Corridors and Road Verge Nature Reserves. We also hold data on NERC Act S41 Habitats of Principal Importance and other important conservation areas such as Biodiversity Opportunity Areas.
